Melaleuca Reviews

Looking for an honest unbiased review of Melaleuca? Good, because I
am not affiliated with them and couldn't care less if you joined or not. I am
only going to give you enough info to make and educated decision as to
whether or not they are a good match for what you are searching for.

History:
The name comes from the Melaleuca Alternifolia plant that originated
from Australia. The Aborigines first used the plant to heal wounds and
treat insect bites. This plant is known as an ancient healing plant. The
plant was later coined by Captain James Cook (first European to discover
Australia) as the tea tree after he observed Aborigines boiling the leaves
to make tea. The tea tree oil was later reported to also treat burns,
fungal, bacterial infections and other skin problems.

The company was first called Oil of Melaleuca the predecessor of the
Melaleuca that we know today. It was first started by two brothers Roger
and Allen Ball. After some quick success, they decided to hire a
professional - Frank VanderSloot a young man with a degree in business
management. Unfortunately the company owners made a lot of mistakes
that Vandersloot could not correct and had eventually shut down. In 1985
Vandersloot reopened the company – Melaleuca Inc and made sure that
he didn’t make any mistakes that the previous owners made.

The company is based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA.

Business Model:
They are a MLM (multi level marketing) company. They market their
products through independent reps. They are a direct sales company.

Product Line:
They have really evolved passed the tea tree oil. They sell many different
products:

  • Vitamins and Supplements
  • Weight loss
  • Medicine Cabinet products
  • Health Care
  • Bath and Body
  • Dental Care
  • Beauty
  • Pet Care

Start Up Costs:
It costs $29 to for a starter kit plus shipping and handling costs. You will
be required to maintain a 35 points per month quota in sales volume
other wise you will be required to purchase products that may cost you
up to $55 per month.

How Do You Make Money?
You make money by selling products. You can also make money by
recruiting downline under you. You earn 7% of the monthly sales that
your customers purchase from the company. You also get the 7% paid
up to 7 levels deep. Horizontally, there is no limit.

Marketing and Promotion Training:
The heart of any business is based on how well the products and
company are promoted. They will teach you how to sell to family, friends
and community. Basically all old school ‘personal’ contact methods.

Who Should Join?
People who love selling, love people, love personal contact and love
MLM should join. You should have a high level of energy and a type ‘A’
personality. Let’s face it, this  is a hands on people business and people
can not always be easy to deal with especially if you are timid or shy.

My Recommendation:
This is a real business that supplies products to consumers through
independent reps. The company does work or else they would be out of
business a long time ago. All MLM companies do work but in order for
you to be successful, you will have to learn how to sell enough products
as well as recruit people in your down line. Just because most people
aren’t successful doesn’t make a company a scam. I am not affiliated with
Melaleuca in any way. The reason that most people fail is because the
company teaches outdated training. How much do you expect to make by
‘pitching’ your products or opportunity to family and friends. Let’s face it,
family and friends most likely are not interested in this type of deal.

However, companies like this one are able to stay in business because of
the top 3 percent of reps who are good at this type of business.
